In 2019, East Belgium counted a total of 23.000 employed persons. People seeking employment are not included in this number.
Border commuters to Germany and Luxembourg are also not included in these numbers.
It must be assumed that 85% of these border commuters residing in Belgium actually live in East Belgium. This means that 4,700 employees commute from East Belgium to Germany, every day.
